Description
Bor Forrás of Pieroth Wines is a unique, sweet red wine, produced from 100%, late harvest Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch). It is full of natural grape sugars.
The name, Bor Forrás translates to “Wine Source”, or “Wine Spring”, as in natural water.
Due to it being late harvest, and a short soaking time of the crushed grapes, called maceration process, this wine has resulted in a silky, soft red, with very low tannins. Pieroth Bor Forras has become an extremely popular, fruity and easy drinking wine in its own category, ever since it has entered the UK market.
Bor Forrás is a very pleasurable red wine indeed, light, juicy and sweet on the palate, with plum, strawberries and raspberries on the nose. It showcases notes of light and juicy summer fruits such as black cherries, strawberries and raspberries.
Hajos Baja is located in southern Hungary. This medium sized wine region is found in between the towns of Hajos and Baja. It is only about 20-30 Km from the perhaps more familiar Szekszárd wine region.
Baja has been an important trading centre between the 16th – 18th centuries, of the Southern regions of Hungary. The Danube River was the main trade route to ship grain & wine to Austria and Germany.
Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) is one of most widely grown black grape varieties in Hungary. Although it can also be found in Germany and Austria, it is most known as a predominantly, classic Hungarian variety. It requires a warm climate to fully mature, and is highly regarded in its key wine regions. Eger, Szekszárd, Villány, Hajos-Baja, & Kunság are the main regions to produce Kekfrankos. It has high potential for elegant wine.
Bor Forrás is a fantastic choice to consume chilled on its own, or even as a lovely touch of dessert at the end of a satisfying meal. It also pairs beautifully with poultry dishes, or with fruity desserts. This wine is known as a red wine for white wine drinkers.
