Description

Mundana of Pieroth Wines is an elegant, velvety sweet red wine produced from 100% Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) late harvested grapes, abundant in natural sugars.

Due to the late harvested berries and a shorter maceration process – that is essentially the soaking process of the crushed berries in their own juice with their seeds and stems – it resulted in a pleasurable, silky, light red wine, with very soft tannins. Thank to the above procedures, Mundana has become a highly popular, easy drinking, and fruity option in its own category, ever since it entered the UK market.

Mundana is a stunning sweet red showcases layers of juicy red summer fruits like strawberries, red cherries, raspberries. Silky, smooth, and exquisite on the palate, just like a touch of dessert at the end of a satisfying meal.

The continental climate in the Kunság wine region, brings hot dry summers and cold winters. This impacts the grape’s ripening pattern significantly; the heat of the day helps in sugar accumulation whist the cool night-time temperatures balances acidity levels well. This climate is very ideal for Kekfrankos.

Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) is a classic Hungarian variety, the most widely grown black grape variety in the country. It is highly regarded in the main wine regions where it is cultivated, not only because it represents typical Hungarian terroir characteristics, but also due to its high potential in making elegant wines, and long ageing potential.

Mundana is best served chilled to enjoy on its own or paired with a selection of soft cheeses & biscuits. It also goes beautifully with light fruit desserts.
