Ludanyi Andras Szurkebarat (Pinot Grigio) is a particularly high quality dry white thanks to the terroir and technology used at Ludanyi Andras Winery.
Szurkebarát (translates to ‘Grey Monk’) is a traditional and a highly regarded variety at Ludanyi Winery. Originally a French variety, but it has been also introduced to Hungary around the 1300’s, and cultivated ever since. Hence Hungary has also earned its place amongst the well established Pinot Gris growing countries. Within Hungary, the Matra wine district is the most widely planted area of Szurkebarat.
This wine is characterised by intense fruity fragrances on the nose. On the palate, it is boldly aromatic and a vibrant wine. Yet it delights the consumer with a rather pleasant acidity. Ludányi András Szürkebarát is the most characteristic wine of the winery.
This wine is recommended chilled, at 10-14 °C, besides forest mushroom soup, or chicken soup, roast liver, fish dishes, stuffed cabbage, cooked meats, and vegetarian dishes.
