Description
Irsai Oliver is a classic Hungarian grape variety. It is very popular not only in Hungary, but also world-wide, due to its properties that make highly aromatic, light & bright wines.
In the Matra wine region, Irsai Oliver is quite widely grown, on around 500 Ha. Here, the tuff and volcanic terroir works well with this variety. Also the slightly cooler climate of the Matra mountains helps with retaining its acidity, resulting in crispy, fresh, highly aromatic wines. Irsai Oliver is the first variety to harvest every season, as it ripens the soonest. It also reflects in the characters of the wine, being rather young.
Opening a bottle of Irsai Oliver is often referred to as opening a bottle of perfume. Wonderfully fruity, muscat-like and floral aromas are most prominent with this Irsai Oliver.
It is a very popular wine for making spritzers in the summer. Also a perfect wine to accompany light hearted get togethers with group of friends.
Ludanyi Andras Irsai Oliver is an ideal choice to pair with lighter dishes such as salads, spinach and ricotta stuffed turkey breast, mushroom risotto, or grilled chicken breast with creamy mashed potato.
