Bulls Blood / Bikavér Grand Superior is a flagship dry red wine from Thummerer Winery in Eger, with Protected Designation of Origin. Only the most outstanding vintages produce Grand Superior, which is the top category of the Bikavér / Bulls Blood at Thummerer Winery.

The soil at Nagy-Eged-hill vineyard, is quite different from the soil elsewhere in the Eger wine region. The vineyard was specifically chosen for such a flag ship wine. The soil is suited for strict yield limitation that helps towards a highly concentrated wine. There is also a higher concentration of limestone in the soil, that lends a distinct character to the wine.

The five varieties of Kékfrankos (Blaufrankische), Cabernet franc, Merlot, Syrah, Kadarka have all been harvested at the same time. They were then fermented and followed by a 27 months barrel ageing process in Hungarian oak barrels for outstanding complexity.

Dark coloured, rich wine, full of character! Fragrances of blackberries, caramel, vanilla, and tobacco on the nose. Velvety black currant, blue berries, cedar, spices and oak on the palate. A very well structured, perfectly balanced, complex beauty. Truly outstanding, and one of the best of Bikavers from Eger, Hungary.

Pairs beautifully with beef and wild games such as grilled steak with potato strudel.
