Description

Turan is a Hungarian red grape variety, very well established in the Matra wine district. It is a rarity, and fascinating variety indeed. Benefiting from rather thick and very dark, purple skin, Turan is often used to add colour to wines. Although it makes excellent wines in its own right too. It is a teinturier variety, that means it’s not only the skin that carries colour, but also its juice. Thanks to its deeply coloured properties, it is full of antioxidants too!

Turan is also an early ripening variety, which Andras starts to harvest in the second half of August. The resulting wine is deep purple in colour, with prominent tannin structures.

Ludanyi Andras Turan leads with delicate floral scents of rose and peony, and a touch of raspberry & black currant. Rich and velvety on the palate. The acidity is pleasant and well balanced. Even though it feels rich and powerful, it also has a young and fresh side to it.  Intense perfumed floral notes dominate when tasing, with hints of black berry fruits. This Turan is a full bodied gem, with a satisfying finish that never ends. Ludanyi Andras Turan is an utterly enjoyable experience and a must try for curious wine lovers.

Turan is an excellent wine choice for wild game dishes, or spicy grilled aubergines.
