St. Donat Marga Sparkling Brut 2019

Description

St Donat Marga Sparkling Brut is a dry sparkling wine of Furmint and Olaszrizling from the Lake Balaton wine region. Notes of apples, biscuits and spices.

Only made in exceptional vintages, this soft and fresh sparkling was created by winemaker Tamas Kovacs using traditional Champagne-making methods. The base wine for St Donat Marga Sparkling Brut is partly fermented in amphora and unfiltered before undergoing second fermentation in the bottle.

Furmint provides strong character and bright apple notes. Olaszrizling on the other hand, contributes with spiciness to the wine. The resulting wine has a creamy mousse with lots of fruit over hints of biscuits from 18 months’ lees ageing.

Best served with Shellfish pasta, smoked trout, Thai noodles and chicken, or apple cinnamon tart.
