Pieroth Murdei

Description

Murdei, of Pieroth Wines is a delightful, sweet Cuvée made of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The Cabernet Sauvignon provides the wine with density and structure, whilst the Merlot adds fruitiness and warm tannins for Murdei.

This deep, sweet red wine showcases a number of layers and notes, including Juicy cherry, delicate spices and a hint of fragrant hay. On the palate, Murdei has delicate spicy aromas and soft, velvety tannins that are most outstanding. The exquisite sweetness gives it a velvety and harmonic structure. A unique, pleasurable and delightfully light red wine.

Murdei is a fine addition to the Mundana, Bor Forras and Icecrystal family.

The Hajós-Baja wine region can be found centered between another two wine regions; Szekszárd wine region from the east, and Kunság wine region from the west.  The climate is similar to that of the neighbouring  region, with a harsh winter, an extremely hot summer and a modest annual rainfall to which the vines are well-adapted to. The most considerable risk a winemaker can faces here is frost, especially in the winter and early spring.

A larger part of Hajós village, consists of 24 streets, that only have long rows of wine cellars, approximately 1200-1300 cellars can be found here, which makes it the largest rows of wine cellars in the country, and is very much is unique in Hungary.

The viticulture history of the region experienced a great change in the 18th century, when the ethnic Slav minority was displaced by a new wave of German settlers who brought with themselves the know-how and an ethos of hard work to cultivating the vineyards.

Pieroth Murdei is recommended to pair with mediterranean starters, hors d’oeuvres, pasta dishes, cheese and biscuits.
