Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttony 2014 – Pannon Tokaj

Tokaji Aszu 5 puttony is the most important and most valued treasure for for every Tokaj Winery. So is the case for Pannon Tokaj. It is a blend of Furmint, Harslevelu and Zeta varieties, and their proportions and aromas represent well the volcanic slopes of the Tokaj region.
To make this Tokaji Aszu 5 puttonyos at Pannon Tokaj, Botrytised aszu berries are processed under privileged conditions, that features the world-famous Hungarian dessert wine. From careful hand selection, the botrytised aszu berries, have been soaked in most. After pressing, the rich and flavoursome juice is then fermented in wooden barrels for at least 2 years, then one year in bottle.
The number of “puttony”-s indicates: the amount of Aszu pulp (1 puttony: 20-22 kg) that is soaked in one Gönc barrels (136-140 l) must.
Tokaji Aszu 5 puttonyos is beautiful, clear, with gold shining through the glass. Stone fruits such as apricot, peach, dominating hints of pear, nut and honey aromas on the palate. It has a lovely long finish. Certainly a wine for special occasions.
Recommended drinking temperature is 10-12 °C. Best served with light desserts, blue cheese or pâté de foie gras.
It will be also fantastic in 10-20 years or more.
